The annual Orwellian Reflection Day grew out of the 1984 Reflection Days that were held in 2018 and 2019 at the Bartholomew County Public Library in Columbus Indiana (see posters below). An integral part of the first event were radio interviews which reached far more people than attended the event.
Years from now when we look back at on the impact of Orwellian Reflection Days, one event from the first 2018 will be remembered.
As the organizer was driving out of the library parking lot where the first event was held, one of the participants waved him down to said that the great thing about the discussion was that people with very different points of view could respectfully discuss important, and even controversial, ideas and political positions.
The fact that this experience might be repeated in many locations and for many years is a major motivation for making the reflection day a national, and perhaps international, Orwellian Day of Reflection.
